  • The World Shooting Championship was first held in Lyon, France in 1897.
  • Held every year till the First World War broke out
  • Resumed in Lyon, France after the First World War ended
  • Changed to hold the championship once in every two years, which had been held annually, since 1931.
  • Changed to hold the championship once in every four years, which had been held once in every two years, since the 36th Championship in 1954.
